Roasted French Onions

Ingredients
3-4 medium yellow onions
4 tablespoons of salted butter
1 tablespoon of soy sauce
1 tablespoon of tomato paste
1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
2 cups of beef broth
1/2 cup of Gruyère cheese, finely shredded
Crusty bread
Fresh thyme

You will also need a SIGNATUREseries Cast Iron Skillet.
Instructions
Preparing the Onions
  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Slice the onions in half, remove the peel, and trim back the base to clean it up, but leave enough to hold the onion halves together.
Making the Sauce
  1. Place the onions into the broth cut side down.
  2. Cover the skillet tightly with foil.
  3. Bake the onions covered for 30 minutes in the preheated 425-degree oven.
  4. Carefully transfer the skillet out onto a heatproof surface.
  5. Remove the foil and carefully flip the onions cut side up.
  6. Spoon the sauce over the onions and place them back into the 425-degree oven.
  7. Bake uncovered for another 40 minutes, basting the onions every 10 minutes.
Serving
  1. Serve the roasted French onions with crusty bread.
  2. Garnish with finely shredded Gruyère cheese and fresh thyme.
