French Onion Burgers

Caramelized Onions
2 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp granulated sugar
Salt and black pepper
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
Stock (optional)

Garlic & Onion Burgers
16 oz beef
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
2 tbsp dried onion flakes
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and black pepper

4 oz Gruyère, shredded
4 brioche burger buns
Fresh thyme
Leafy green lettuce

You will also need a SIGNATUREseries Cast Iron Skillet.
Caramelize the Onions
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced onions, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Stir in balsamic vinegar and cook for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
Prepare the Burgers
  1. In a bowl, mix beef with minced garlic, onion flakes, onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  2. Divide into 4 portions and form into patties.
  3. Cook patties in a skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes on each side.
Assemble the Burgers
  1. Top each patty with caramelized onions and shredded Gruyère.
  2. Cover the skillet for 1 minute to melt the cheese.
  3. Serve on brioche buns with mayonnaise, lettuce, and fresh thyme.
